In tune with the Nevada guidelines, the casinos in Las Vegas began reopening on Thursday last. The gambling den of the Americas had decided to open after the Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak had announced that they would be opened. It may be worthwhile to remember that the casinos were closed for three months after the rise of the dreaded pandemic. The gaming table went into the shutdown mode on March 17.
There are several guidelines that cover a proper reopening of casinos. The casinos are expected to submit a plan to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. They should explain how they would ensure a proper compliance with the guidelines. They need to ensure that they would encourage the gamers and betters to indulge in a proper social distancing and hygiene. While a few of the casinos have already reopened, there are a host of Las Vegas Casinos to reopen after complying with the guidelines.
One of the most popular casinos – the MGM Resorts – has been planning to enact a seven point strategy for the best possible safety plan. The major factors they would want to enforce would include
- Wearing of masks by all guests is mandatory
- Covering your nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing
- Avoiding close contact with people who may be at risk
- Maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet from other guests and gamers
- Washing hands with soap and water repeatedly for at least 20 seconds
- Avoiding touching nose, eyes and mouth without washing your hands
- Seek medical attention immediately if you are in need of any such assistance.
While there were attempts to contain the influx of excited gamers, a few of the casinos seemingly failed to achieve that goal. A few photos and videos that emerged have a completely serious story. The D Las Vegas casino was one of the popular casinos that could not handle the onslaught of the eager gamers who were trying to enter as soon as possible.

The video clearly shows that the social distancing norms were not being adhered to. However, the participants, dealers and dancers could be seen wearing masks.
A similar scene was witnessed at another popular destination, The Fremont Hotel & Casino.

There have been several experts criticising the move the reopen the casinos. People have been of the opinion that the casinos have begun reopening quite soon, even when the government has allowed them to do so.
Nevada had begun easing out the restrictions from May 9. The first phase of unlocking was started with the reopening of restaurants and salons. The second phase that commenced on May 29 allowed the reopening of gyms and fitness clubs. The third phase began on June 4 with the reopening of casinos and pubs.
