The voice-controlled smart speakers have been of recent origin, but they have grown in the shortest time to become one of the widely chosen products in the electronic sphere. It was a technology started by Amazon and later followed up by Apple and Google.
However, there are a few issues that have been coming up when you think of these personal assistants like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri. The recent surveys and revelations have claimed that these services listen to your communication without your consent. This has been visualized as a serious privacy concern.
A new company called Mycroft has been making attempts to establish a new virtual assistant. This would be the open-source virtual assistant and will be preserving privacy. It may be worthwhile to notice that the company has been around 2015, but it is only now that it has been giving a thought to building its own open-source service with due respect to privacy concerns.
The new Open-source service has been preferred by a host of companies of late. Obviously, they do not want to be held hostage by Amazon and Google. The company has got investments from a few huge names of late. It has the backing from the companies like Jaguar Land Rover which has implemented the Mycroft platform in its sports car as well. There have been a few other options coming up as well. A few prime examples include AI device for teaching purposes and small-sized personal robots.
Mycroft is looking ahead to improve the user experience further and ensure complete protection for privacy theft. Of course, the products and the platform is not yet consumer-friendly and the company is aiming to reach a stage where it can be completely customer-centric.
