The team behind the Portal 2 mod Destroyed Aperture seems to have woken up after a slumber. A recent update from the developers has confirmed that the update is in process and will soon be released on Steam. In fact, the Portal 2 fans world over had already forgotten the mod and the update has it has been in the cold storage for more than 8 months now.
In fact, the project has been an ambitious one for the developers, but the silence for more than a year had made the fans lose hope on the possibility. Most us fans of >Destroyed Aperture Mod For Portal 2 had been under an impression that the project is already dead. But, the new announcement has breathed a new life into it and the hope has now been rejuvenated.
The new mod will come with a campaign that will span across five chapters. The project was initiated in 2015 and was set to a release in 2018. The issue was perhaps getting the developers onboard the project. The update from the team states that “The work from these developers is necessary for the mod, and it’s what has been holding us back”.
The Destroyed Aperture is not actually a simple Mod, but an entire game in itself. It has five chapters and 20 maps wherein you are expected to solve 30 puzzles. And yes, these puzzles tend to get more and more difficult as you move up the ladder.
A recent teaser has shown that the plan to launch the Destroyed Aperture mod for Portal 2 is just around the corner. However, there has been no word about the exact time frame that the game is likely to be launched.
An update from aerond7 on moddb has incited the hope for the update to be released on Steam really soon. The ambitious project which was seemingly in cold storage for want of developers has finally been able to see the light if everything goes right. The team also has a Plan B wherein they will try to get new developers on board. The dedication of the team is well evident when they claim that “We are dedicated, thus we still plan on finishing the mod and releasing it on Steam, and we always will.”
