President Donald Trump has once again proved that he cannot be the best dealmaker. In tune with his failed attempts making deals, he has one failure to his already full list of broken deals. The peace talks with Taliban have fallen apart and Trump has lived up to his famed title of being a dealbreaker.
Of course, Trump has always been very fond of making huge deals, but the fact remains that he has been one of those who are not very good at the art. In sharp contrast to what he has claimed in his book “The Art of the Deal” – “Deals are my art form.. I like making deals, preferably big deals.”, he has once again failed miserably in the endeavor. He abruptly canceled his accord with Taliban on Saturday.
The talks were on with the aid of Zalmay Khalilzad who was almost on the brink of closing a deal with the Taliban and was on the verge of letting Trump withdraw the troops from Afghanistan. If it had gone as per the plans, it would have ended the 18 year long war. However, Trump came up with a Twitter war against the Taliban regime and claimed that he is withdrawing from the agreement.

This was the result of a car bombing in Kabul which killed a US soldier along with 11 others. However, this alone may not be the actual reason for the series of Tweets that Trump has been sending. Given the fact that the Taliban has been doing what it always does in spite of the ongoing peace negotiations, maybe Trump has his own reasons for calling off the negotiations.
Whatever be the future of the deal and the Afghan – Taliban peace process, one thing that has come up from all this has been that Trump cannot be termed a successful dealmaker!
