For the WhatsApp users out there, we have good news – the much anticipated Dark Mode is coming soon on the WhatsApp Android app. Of course, the feature has currently been released on the beta channel, but we would expect it to arrive on the stable version soon enough.

If you are on WhatsApp Beta program and have the beta version 2.20.13 or above, you are in for the treat and can use the dark mode. Wait, the program is not accepting any new users on the beta program and you can not move to beta as of now. But, you do not need to fret – since the feature has made it into beta, you can expect it soon on stable version as well.
How to activate WhatsApp Dark Mode?
Well, check if you ae on beta version 2.20.13 or above. If you are, follow the steps below –
- Go to Settings on your Whatsapp app.
- Then tap on Chats
- You should now see the option for Theme right on the top.
This is where you would find the options for setting up dark mode. If you are on Android 10, you will also find a System Default option to apply the system-wide settings to WhatsApp as well.
When will it be rolled out globally?
Frankly, we don’t have an idea. We would expect it to arrive with a major update that will bring in the self-destructing messages. The latter has been proposed since long and it has not seen the light of the day as yet.
As for the self destructing messages, it has already been made available on the rival platforms such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram and Signal. The feature lets you erase a message in a time span of five minutes to an hour.
The news about WhatsApp dark mode was first broken by WABetainfo which has been a trusted source for any information on upcoming features on WhatsApp.
When the feature rolls out for the stable version, we would expect it to happen with iOS 13 as well.
