A woman was killed and burnt in Florida by a delivery driver in a severe incident of crime. The incident was reported on Tuesday. The name of the victim has been stated to be Evelyn Udell, who was about to celebrate her 75th birthday shortly.
The delivery person, Jorge Lachazo, was arrested soon after he committed the crime. Police have stated that Lachazo was working with delivery company JB Home Delivery, which is a subcontractor firm for Best Buy.
He was delivering a washer and dryer that was brought from Best Buy and install it. However, he hit the woman with a mallet and then set her on fire. He will be charged with the first-degree murder. He will also be charged under the clauses for first-degree arson and armed burglary with battery.

Interestingly enough, the culprit did not make any claims about why did he commit the crime. He only stated that he had taken cocaine and marijuana earlier in the day before going for the delivery. The incident and the harrowing nature of it has shocked the residents of the locality. As a neighbour of Udell, Mr. Bobbi Cohen aptly put it, “Mental health problems seem to be worse….People can’t trust something as simple as a normal delivery.”
There have been condolences pouring in from almost every corner. Best Buy, Florida Atlantic University where Udell was previously working, and Udell’s family were a few of them.
